It was really just a trip today with two stopovers,

first I took some photos from the Russian part of the city.

The Naval Cathedral Church of saint Nicholas, Liepaja Latvia:

and looked at the big harbor pier.

or the harbor mole looked at me :)

the second stop was the memorial, the German soldiers cemetery of Saldau

where after the laying of the dead soldiers about 30,000 people have found their final resting place.

The soldiers' graves are the great preachers of peace (Albert Schweitzer).

In the memorial lie 8 thick books with name entries on,

most soldiers died between the ages of 20 and 35 years ...

Afterwards the journey was a bit more reflective towards Riga where I spent one night on the somewhat unromantic City-Camping.

I went for dinner in the city and explored by bike the old part of the City and the pedestrian area
