31.05.2019 from San Giuliano to Trieste

date: 31.05.2019
from: San Giuliano to: Trieste
Km: 145

after about a 4 hours easy relaxed drive along the countryside I arrived at the
Campeggio Obelisco near Trieste. This is a nice little campsite above the city

with very nice views towards the city and the harbor.

I plan to stay three nights here
and leave at the 3rd June for a short city visit in Trieste
and head further to Zagreb in the afternoon

this was also the day when I met Fredy: and Fritz:

It was also the place where I tried my new outdoor cooking system, but it's not that easy as the control of the gas burner is not so finely adjustable.

Tourist information: Campeggio Obelisco (G Link) 6€ per person and 6€ for my van, 12€ total with toilets and shower, no AC/DC. Maybe I should mention that you should bring your own toilet paper and your own soap as it seems it’s not usual that this is included in the service of the small campsites or rv parks

30.05.2019 from San Giuliano to Murano and Venice

date:30.05.2019
from: San Giuliano to: Murano and to Venice
Km: lot’s of walking

first I took the Boat from San Giuliano to Murano to check out the
Glass-Manufacturing Island lot’s of glass-art and of course
a lot more of glass shops all around the island.

it’s nice to walk through the streets at Murano island as it is not
so crowded like the big neighbor Venice.

after a glass-manufacturing show and a few stops in some of the glass shops
I took the boat again to get to the big Island, I got on land at midday and so the
whole afternoon was discovery time in Venice. I took the public boat for a ride
up the canal grande to the ferry terminal San Marco.

I walked everything back went from the Giardini Reali to the Dogen-Palace
to the impressive Markus-Tower and the Markusdom.

Of course on the way back I also stopped by the very famous Rialto Bridge.

Everything is very impressive and cute, however the huge amount of tourist doesn’t
make it easy to enjoy a relaxed discovery of the island.

For dinner I meet two friends which also visited Venice at accidently by the same time, thanks for the nice evening and the great company!

Tourist information: San Giuliano RV park 18€ per night without AC/DC (G Link),
privat boat booked at the San Giuliano RV park 12€ per perso.
first boat departure 9 am from the mainland
last boat departure 6 pm from Venice (ticket valid from 9am to 6pm).
Public bus or tram 1.50€ one way per person.
one way canale grande boat ticked 7.50€. 24 hour public transport ticket 20 €

29.05.2019 from Tenero to Venice

date: 29.05.2019
from: Tenero to: Venice
Km: 343

it was more just to get there, I went over the Monte Ceneri to go to Lugano there to Chiasso to cross the border to Italy. Close to the border I remembered that I forgot my passport at home, so now we are checking how far to I get with my Swiss Identity card :). As I passed the border I drove some overland streets from Como to Bergamo to join the highway traffic at Bergamo which was quite crowded by trucks after about a 5 hour drive I arrived at the San Giuliano Venice RV Park (G Link) where you can park for 18€ for 24 hours including toilet and shower, electricity would be 4€ extra charge. From here I plan to go to Venice for a day trip, probably by boat :)

27.05.2019 from Seengen to Tenero

date: 27.05.2019
from: Seengen to: Tenero
Km: 290

Roadtrip 2.0

As the pass route over St. Gotthard still was closed because of snow, I decided to drive a few extra
miles I took the route over the St. Bernardino pass route and it was worth it, great landscape and
even some bikers with their bicycle and their mopeds tried their luck to pass the mountain road. hardly any cars so there was no hassle and I could enjoy the nice scenery.

I ended up in Tenero at the campsite Miralago (G link) the campsite is very modern, clean and right at the beach of the Lago Maggiore, really a great spot, however it’s also exquisite with the prices for one campervan with one person per night 57 CHF (camp-space 45 person 12) and this wasn’t the camp-space at the beach...
